Terms of Service
The short version: play fair, be 18+ if you touch chips, don't cheat, and remember the chips are pretend. We built this place to be fun — these terms exist for the small percentage of people who make lawyers necessary.
1. The deal
By creating an account or playing anything on HaoLabs Games, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, the back button works flawlessly — we tested it.
2. Your account
- One account per human. You're responsible for what happens on it, so pick a password better than password123. (We'll hash it either way. You're welcome.)
- Your date of birth must be real. It gates 18+ features, and lying about it to access chip play is the one form of cheating that's also a legal problem — yours.
- You must be at least 13 to have an account at all.
3. Chips are not money. Really.
Chips are a virtual currency with zero monetary value. They cannot be cashed out, redeemed, transferred, sold, or exchanged for anything in the physical universe. Winning a million chips makes you impressive, not wealthy. We can adjust chip balances, bonuses, and the chip economy at any time — including resetting it — because, again: pretend money.
Real-money chip purchases are currently disabled. If we ever enable them (only where the law allows), purchased chips are still just chips: no refunds except where legally required, and still no cashing out.
4. Chip play is 18+
Wagering chips — table buy-ins, or chip features inside third-party games — requires a verified 18+ account, and is only offered where lawful. Every game on the platform stays fully playable for free without touching chips. If chip play stops being fun, stop. That is not a suggestion we make lightly.
5. Don't cheat
Scores and results are recorded to public leaderboards and team standings. Exploiting bugs, automating play, tampering with API calls, farming multiple accounts, or otherwise manufacturing results gets your scores wiped, your account suspended, or both — at our discretion, without a hearing, and with zero refunds of your pretend money. Beat people with skill. It feels better anyway.
6. Teams
Team names and tags follow the same rule as usernames: keep them clean. Anything hateful, impersonating, or otherwise gross gets renamed or removed. The owner controls the team; leaving hands it to the oldest member. Team drama is yours to resolve — we host standings, not therapy.
7. Third-party games
Developers can connect their own games through our API. When you authorize one, you see exactly what it can access before you approve, and an app can never take more chips than it gave back combined (apps cannot mint or drain beyond hard daily caps). That said, third-party games are third-party: we don't build them, we don't warranty them, and a bad one should be reported to us so we can turn it off.
8. Our content
The games, art, code, and the HaoLabs name are ours. Play them all you want — that's the point — but don't copy, resell, or rehost them.
9. Availability
The service is provided as is. We aim for always-on, but servers hiccup, features change, and sometimes we ship something at 2 AM that we shouldn't have. We may modify or discontinue any part of the platform at any time. If we ever shut down for good, chips and records go with it — see section 3 about the pretend money.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages from using the platform. Our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us — which, with deposits disabled, is currently a very defensible zero.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; the date up top moves when we do. Material changes get a notice on the site. Keeping on playing means keeping on agreeing.
